Georgina & Jonathan - Summer Wedding
Georgina and Jonathan were married in the local church in Epping. "Theydon Garnon Church in Epping is a lovely old church and since Jon's family home is in Epping, it seemdd the obvious choice." It was booked 16 months in advance.
Gaynes Park was the first venue they saw and they both loved it immediately. "It's situated in an idyllic countryside location and the barn was very impressive. We went to see one other venue afterwards just to be sure, but it was nowhere near as smart as Gaynes Park so that made our minds up. It was in an ideal location as the church is only a 5 minute drive away." Gaynes Park was also booked 16 months in advcance, as soon as they had fixed a date for the church ceremony.
Georgina had one bridesmaid, her sister Lucy, who wore a knee-length strapless lilac Dessy dress with black lace around the middle.
Jonathan, his best man and four ushers wore classic three-piece grey morning suits, which were hired from Moss Bros. "When they were trying them on on the morning of the wedding, one of the ushers discovered that his trousers had a huge tear down the inside leg, so it was lucky that my mother-in-law's neighbour Doreen is a dab hand with a needle!" They all wore grey shirts and lilac coloured ties.
Georgina's dress was made by Ellis. It was ivory satin and strapless with beading on the bodice and a satin rose on the hip. For accessories, Georgina wore an amethyst and diamond bracelet and earrings and a diamond necklace which was a previous present from Jon.
Georgina's bouquet was a hand-tied arrangement of lilac roses. Her sister had a smaller bouquet of lilac and white roses. Georgina's mother-in-law and a group of friends decorated the church with white and green flower arrangements and lilac pew ends.
Georgina travelled with Bryan, who gave her away, in an old Bramwith Landaulette saloon. Her sister and Mother were in a Daimler limousine.
They had lilac sashes decorating the backs of the chairs and tied around the balcony, interwoven with some soft green foliage. The centrepieces were beautiful arrangements of lilac and purple flowers, including lilac roses, in martini glasses. They stood on mirrored bases.
Favours were lottery tickets for the men and bath cubes in organza bags for the women. They had two cakes, one was a three-tiered lemon, chocolate and ginger sponge cake and the other was a more traditional fruit cake made by Georgina's Mum.
"The best part of the day was having all our friends and family there to celebrate with us. If only it didn't have to end! I'm currently trying to think of a good excuse to splash out on another big knees-up at Gaynes Park…
We asked if there was anything Georgina and Jonathan had learnt that was an important tip for future wedding couples; "The day will fly by so really try to make the most of everything so that you don't find yourself thinking 'I wish I'd done that' afterwards. Also, when you're trying to work out timings, be generous with the amount of time you schedule in for reception drinks, the meal, etc. Things ran about an hour behind schedule at our reception so I was a little stressed at one point! Once the DJ had got going though, I relaxed again!"
