Xanthe and Kenneth’s wedding had a Spring theme. They used rustic hearts and shades of green to reflect this.
We had talked about getting engaged so I knew it was coming. We went on one of our favourite walks in Epping Forest and Ken told me that he was wearing a very expensive pair of shorts (the ring was in the pocket!).
The Wedding and Reception Venue
Xanthe and Kenneth loved the natural feel to Gaynes Park. Ken proposed in Epping Forest so it was apt that they got married there!
We thought the grounds and flowers were beautiful and loved the light airy feel to the Orangery and the rustic barn.
They booked 9 months in advance.
Xanthe had 3 bridesmaids – her sister and 2 cousins who all wore long kiwi green strapless chiffon dresses with a sweetheart neckline. The green dresses matched the Groomsmen’s cravats and fitted in perfectly with the ‘Spring’ colour scheme. Each bridesmaid also wore a tiara which had peridot and pink Swarovski crystals. Stacey also created flowers and spring foliage for their bouquets.
Ken’s best man Steve was a childhood friend and the ushers were the couple’s neighbours, Lee and Tom. They all wore formal grey tails, kiwi green cravats and striped waistcoats; ivory for Ken and silver for the groomsmen.
Your Dress, Accessories and Flowers
Xanthe’s bridal gown was ‘Blue’ by Enzoani.
The dress was absolutely made to suit my figure! The design was based on a Jean Paul Gaultier bottle, for a classic feminine look. It was strapless gown in ivory/silver with a sweetheart neckline. The dress had button fastenings down the back and Swarovski crystal detail on the waist.
Xanthe also wore a side head piece made with Swarovski crystal detail
She also wore a Tiffany bangle from her eighteenth birthday as her something old and a bangle her sister bought her as her something new. Xanthe’s something borrowed was her sister’s DKNY watch and a garter bought by her Aunt was her something blue.
The Decorative Touches
Xanthe and Kenneth decorated the venue with white hearts, button hearts, wicker hearts with flowers. They also used moss hearts tied with green ribbon to match the bridesmaids and ushers. The colours beautifully reflected their spring wedding theme.
Their table decorations were bouquets of flowers in shades of soft pinks and greens. The flowers included alstromeria, ranunculus and roses. Their florist also created a cherry blossom arch for the ceremony room.
Their favours were Easter baskets filled with mini eggs and tied with green ribbon. The children were given a gold Lindt bunny with green ribbon tied around the neck.
During the day their guests played giant garden games including Snakes and Ladders and Jenga.
Xanthe and Kenneth had a five-tiered cake made by Great Little Cake Company. It was decorated with cascading confetti and sugar sweet peas at the bottom. The different flavoured tiers were fruit, chocolate, vanilla and strawberry, tangy lemon, carrot and cream cheese and coconut and lime.
Best Part of The Day
Walking up the aisle and seeing Ken turn around and look at me for the first time.
Wedding Planning Tip
Create a spreadsheet to keep tabs on payments. Our friends created one for their wedding which they gave to us to use. Also keep a tick list of jobs done/to be done.
