Civil Wedding Ceremonies

Civil marriage ceremonies, like church marriages, require a beautiful, romantic setting in keeping with the significance of the day. Gaynes Park, set on a private family estate and being close to London, is one of the most stunning contemporary places to get married in Essex.

Gaynes Park has three separate areas licensed which you can choose for exclusive use civil ceremonies, the Orangery, theGather Barn and the Mill Barn.

The elegant Orangery is a contemporary rectangular-shaped building with oak beams and large windows all around, which create a light and airy feel. It lies within a large Victorian walled garden where mature trees, herbaceous borders with old-fashioned roses, and a charming wrought-iron pavilion provide a romantic backdrop for your civil ceremony, drinks reception and those all-important photographs.

If you have your heart set on an outdoor ceremony, the open-sided Gather Barn is also licensed. The Gather Barn is beamed and has a brick and flagstone floor. Surrounded by countryside views, it makes an idyllic place to get married in Essex.

For larger civil ceremonies, the Mill Barn is an impressive and spacious setting. Situated beside the Gather Barn, it features four huge tree trunk pillars, floor to ceiling windows and a wooden oak floor throughout.

Whichever setting you choose at Gaynes Park, you can be sure your ceremony will take place in one of the most beautiful wedding locations.
Please note, however, that booking Gaynes Park does not necessarily ensure a registrar is available to lead the ceremony. The law dictates you must contact the registrar yourself and make the arrangements, including settling their booking fee direct.

Please contact the registrar to reserve a date (which they will do more than 12 months in advance) and make a booking:
